Marine Drawings - Alasdair Macfarlane; Alasdair Macfarlane (Hardback) 01-12-1986
This book contains 169 scraperboard drawings of Clyde-built ships and is representative of the range of vessels built on the river during the post-war boom from 1948 to 1960. Each drawing is accompanied by a description which identifies the ship, the builder, the owner, the gross tonnage and the year built. Just how dramatically the ship-building industry has declined on the Clyde during the past 30 years can be seen on the contents page which lists the names of 22 internationally-known shipbuilders who had ships under construction on Clydeside in the fifties. The drawings of Alasdair Macfarlane are also available in single form (203 x 127mm print at #3.00 each plus VAT / 305 x 254mm print in high class cut-out mount at #3.60 each plus VAT).
